Slim Jim - Open Car Locks in seconds!

Slim Jim is a very popular tool because it doesn't require much skill to use or even learn lock picking at all. It is used by garages and repair men in North America and Europe to quickly open car doors and sometimes help someone who locked himself out of his car.

The principle of Slim Jim is simple: instead of lockpicking the mechanism inside the lock, Slim Jim will activate the opening mechanism and open the door. This would be similar to activating a lever inside a lock by drilling inside and activating the lever mechanism (except that you of course you don't drill your car door).

A Slim Jim will be inserted next to the windows and moved near the door's handle to try to unlock the door. Slim Jim is a very popular and wildly used tool; in fact, even locksmith use it when it's possible. A slim Jim leaves no damage to your car's door or mechanisms if used properly. As a result it will be used on older models of cars (before 1989) as a quick, painless alternative to open door locks.

Slim Jim is used by a locksmith when it is not possible to use a keyblank and when lockpicking would be too long, or too complex. Why fight with a lock for 15 minutes to an hour when you can open it in seconds with a Slim Jim?

EXCEPTIONS: Use of the Slim Jim is generally restricted to vehicles produced prior to 1989, although there are still many models being manufactured that will readily yield to this tool.  The important factor is understanding how it works and in which circumstances it should NOT be used.  Vehicles with electric locks and alarms are suseptible to damage from any kind of invasive car opener, such as a Slim Jim, so uptmost care must be used in these situations.  Still, if you could possess only one car opening tool, Slim Jim would be a good choice.

We offer the following Slim Jim model to our buyers in our Car Opening Section.
