Broken key extractors are as valuable to a Locksmith as are lock picks and tension wrenches.  They are used to extract fragments of keys that have broken off inside of keyways.  Because these key fragments can often be miniscule, it is important to have an assortment of extractors to tackle various situations.

The A127 (also termed A1-27 in some catalogs) is a good basic set of broken key extractors, each with a soft rubber grip.  The business end of these tools is made of steel for maximum strength and rigidity.
